At IJRM-SSS, AI-assisted research is submitted with a full account of its AI workflow and code, and a data availability statement from the first submission, to support reproducibility and discovery. Raw data are deposited in a trusted repository or held under controlled access where data-use terms allow, never uploaded to the journal as patient-level records. Rights stay with the data holders.

Aims

International Journal of Radiation Medicine — Screening, Surveillance, Survivorship (IJRM-SSS) publishes rigorous, clinically consequential research spanning the full arc of radiation medicine. The journal takes as its organizing premise that ionizing radiation is an immunological as well as a cytotoxic intervention, and that its consequences must be followed from before diagnosis to decades after treatment.

Screening

  • Risk stratification models and interval selection
  • Imaging strategy, diagnostic yield, and harms of over-detection
  • Immune and molecular signatures of pre-clinical disease
  • Radiation exposure from diagnostic and screening programs

Surveillance

  • Response assessment and criteria development
  • Minimal residual disease and circulating tumor DNA
  • Longitudinal immune monitoring during and after therapy
  • Distinguishing treatment effect from recurrence

Survivorship

  • Late immune effects and persistent lymphopenia
  • Second malignancy risk and dose–response
  • Cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, and cognitive sequelae
  • Patient-reported outcomes over long horizons

Cross-cutting science

Across all three sections, the journal gives priority to work on radiation-induced immunity and immunomodulation: immunogenic cell death, cGAS–STING and interferon signaling, abscopal and out-of-field response, combination with immune checkpoint inhibition and cell therapy, and immune-sparing treatment planning.

Ownership and support

IJRM-SSS is owned and published by the CureRays Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. SIRiiM, the Institute's radiation-immunology society, partners with the journal on scientific programming.

Editorial authority rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Submissions authored by the Institute's founder or leadership are handled entirely externally, without exception.

Out of scope

  • Purely technical dosimetry or device engineering without a clinical or biological endpoint
  • Single-case reports without a mechanistic or methodological contribution
  • Studies with no radiation, immune, or longitudinal-outcome component
